Thanks for the kind words Smiler.

I posted a few pics of my newly acquired 635 in the R.I.P. Skrimish/Skrimish Appreciation Thread over in the Knives & Rescue Tools section yesterday and got some nice comments there as well.

It really isn't so much the camera Joe, it's the lighting. I use a Kodak point and shoot digital at 9 or 10 megapixels. The trick is that I just built myself a ultra low budget light box using a cardboard box, tissue paper from Christmas shirt boxes, and scotch tape. I spent $25 for 2 clamp on work lights, 2 100 watt bulbs, and a sheet of matte finished white poster board. You put the camera on a tripod right at the box and shoot with no flash at the lowest ISO you can.

You can find instructions all over the internet on how to build a light box, but once you see one there isn't much to it. I also have Microsoft's version of Photoshop called Digital Image Pro. You will probably need something like that to fix the white balance after the photo is taken.

Is the BM HK 14205 available in black plain edge blade?
Only black combo edges available on the BM website. Also I searched the web and ebay with no joy?
I have seen a photo of Black plain HK 14205 on a blade forum somewhere!

Is the black plain edge a discontinued variant?

Thanks trailboss.

Yep, saw the black HK 14205 plain edge at KnifeCenter at a discounted $US131.95.
Only problem is they want to slug me $36 to ship to Australia!

USPS Express mail costs $US9.95, so a profit grab on shipping by the looks of it!

Getting the Benchmade HK 14205 plain edge spear point was the smartest knife buying decision I have made in a long time.

Hefty blade greatly aids smooth as silk opening and the knife feels indestructible with that extra thick 0.15" blade.

This little baby has given me a bulge in my pants in more ways than I could imagine!

I looked on the BM site and didn't see what you were talking about. Maybe I just need to look more thoroughly...

On a separate note, I still haven't seen the catalog for 2009 for the HK models. If they don't add any models that would be fine, although it would be nice to see something new from Mike Snody. My concern is that I hope they don't drop the 14205 and 14210 in particular. Excellent models...I would have to say you owe it to yourself to at least get one of the other if not both.
