Breaking a little ice here. My 14205 remains one of my very favorite Benchmades. I saw one at a "Wharf" in San Francisco and had to have it. No messing, it's a great knife.

I love the flat G-10 scales and the 154cm blade is awesome. One request would be to offer these in D2 as well. (Maybe an LE model?)That would be really cool.

Like they said in Oliver, "Can I have some more please?" Snody, that is.

I'll support your "ice breaking" post here in the Heckler & Koch knives sub-section, Joe.

From the first time that I saw the 14205, I knew that it was everything that I wanted the 14200 to be. It had black G-10 handle scales that made the handle thinner than the 14200 with its rubberized synthetic handle material and I knew it was one of the most durable handle materials out there. There's something about the 14205's opening/closing action that makes it one of the smoothest folders that I've ever encountered.

D2 would be nice for the blade, but I can say that I'm quite content with the 154CM steel, as my new found experience with my 910SBT and 707SBK has enlightened me.

I am with you Joe. I love the 14205. It is in my top three BM knives made today. I would also love to see it in D2 or maybe even M4.

The 14200-70x is much closer to the 14210 but not the same. I think the 14200-70x feels closer due to the thicker scales. The downer for me was the 14200-70 is only CE. I regret selling my 1400-70x and not puting my 14205 blade in it.

harlantaylor, I have handled the 14200, 14205, and 14210. I can assure you that if you are asking if the standard 14200 with the aluminum bolsters and over-mold on the handle is what you are referring to, it is not the same as the 14210 handle scales. The 14200 is much thinker than the handle of the 14210. If you are making reference to the 14200-70X, I have not handled that model, so I cannot provide any information on the comparison between the 2 models.

I have bought a First Production 14205. I very like it but it has a little blade play.

Welcome to the club Gabo. If there is a little play in your 14205, just adjust the tension in the pivot screw.

Hi Gabo,

The two Torx drivers you need for most adjustments are the T-10 for the pivot and T-6 for handle and clip screws.

Welcome aboard.

The 14205 is an awesome knife (IMO). You're really gonna love it after you get the tension dialed up.

I consider the 14205 to be one of the best knives currently available from BenchMade for covering all the bases of a good well rounded balance of user friendliness. Its comfortable in all grips, has lots of grip but is not so aggressive it feels harsh, and offers the perfect balance of reliable lock performance with strength, durability and toughness with liners of stainless steel that are full length and plenty thick.

The 154CM blade steel offers a great balance of corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening in the field. I don't really have a problem with it. This steel is very consistent and you don't read too much about it giving people issues like you do other steels.

To me this knife offers an easy Wave option for those that like that or were used to it in other HK knives in the past and since doing that takes all of ten minutes without modifying any other part of the folder at all its nice also. Not that I advocate it for everyone because obviously it will void the warranty but some folks like that and certainly more than a few have noticed. So, all around its probably the best EDC, tactical, survival, and trail folder you could hope for. A folder that can wear many hats is a good folder and this one can sure wear them all IMO.
