I love this knife, but have noticed that after a few dozen "free" openings, the torx pivot screws loosen up, and eventually will fall out.

If I tighten them up, then the blade doesn't swing freely open (or closed)... have to do it manually.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there another adjustment to be made?

Thanks!

Nice knife. Never had the problem you mention. I can't imagine the pivot screw loosening and backing-up to the point of falling out. To fix; Use blue loctite. Set the pivot tension to where you like it, and leave it alone for a day to let it set. (oh yeah), welcome to the forum... I haven't been here much lately, so I forget my manners. Smiler Good luck.

Welcome Larry - pivot bolts have minds of their own and I don't know if there is a rule to it.

Without a drop or two of the BLUE 242/243 Loc-Tite formula the pivot on my 14205 came loose nearly every time I used the knife.

Before using the stuff, take a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol...clean the screws on the bolt and the opposing threaded part the bolt goes into and let it dry then apply...oil can prevent the Loc-Tite from setting up properly.

You will have plenty of time to find the sweet spot and it should resolve your issue.

All these jokers talking about Loc-Tite, well, it works.

Plumbers tape however is easier to apply, has no time to "set" and is probably cheaper.

I always have some around, great for when you want to change out shower heads, fix a leaky connection for the garden hose or hold a pivot screw in place.

Awesome... thanks everyone for the welcome, and for the tips. Between lock-tite and plummer's tape, I expect the problem to be solved.

Nice to be in a forum with friendly and knowledgeable advice!

Thanks again and take care,

--Larry
