Does anybody have a 14460 Nitrous Blitz? I know gstrand posted about this awhile back but I thought I'd ask again in the new HK forum....

Anyway, I'm curious what it's like as I haven't seen one in person. And, if you had it and traded it, why? Also, how does it stack up with a Stryker?

Thanks

I don't own this model, but I have handled it before. I was actually able to handle the Nitrous Blitz before I handled the Nitrous Stryker. In my opinion, I felt the the Nitrous Blitz was better than any of the Appartition models because it was much lighter and thinner as far as the handle width is concerned. Now that I've handled the Nitrous Stryker, however, I feel that the Stryker is a little bit heavier, but the additional weight is appreciated. I did encounter some problems with the Nitrous Strykers being a little more resitant to opening in comparison to the Nitrous Blitz, but I considered that a good thing as well because one wouldn't want an assisted opening model without a safety lock to open while in the pocket unintentionally.

So in short, I like the Nitrous Blitz, but I have a stronger liking for the Nitrous Stryker.

Chang, thanks for the input. I think I'll hold out for an M4 806. Wink

I just picked up a 14460BT and it's really sweet. Slimmer than any of the other Nitrous knives it be smoother too. Combine the slimness of the 3.4 154cm blade and with titanium liners it only weighs 2.7oz. It's tip-down like all locking liners would be. It's sharp, centered and has the open design which also aids in it's overall lightness. I think I have a new EDC that disappears in the pocket.

Good stuff and a nice design. Thanks Benchmade!

I leave mine next to my emergency brake and flick it open constantly while I drive. Big Grin

It is very quick to deploy. I have made a couple of passes through a couple carpet samples... the coating showed wear immediately..I haven't cut a thing since. Frowner
It wont take long and I'll be using it again.
I had a 913BKD2 about a week ago and found it stiff to open as well. It was off center too. I sent it back and traded up for a 615-2.

Well, I'm using it again. The light weight and slim profile along with the nitro makes it great for someone that it going to use it repeatedly in a short amount of time. ie I break down card board boxes from time to time. some are those solid bottom boxes with perferations on the corners... I'll do several at a time by flipping em over cutting an X corner to corner and back in the pocket it goes. then I can flat stack'em quickly. and move on to the more standard boxes with tape on both ends. I got a good edge on it the other day using my lansky sharpener. used a 17 degree angle. passes through board like hot knife through butter. Even after a few dozen solid bottom boxes.
the finish is showing a bit more wear but not to bad. Probably stick to satin finishes from here on out except for the ones I'll just keep in the brag bag. I am tempted to use the Kulgera 930BK since its finish is supposed to be tougher than the BT2 coating on the Blitz. Some of the reasoning behind that is I have'nt had a chance to test out some S30V steel .
Hey, anyone else seeing finish depletion on the 14460BT2 and if so watcha cutting through?

I was looking at the Harley knives and they have a nytrous that’s the same size and weight as the HK14460. Same everything except the blade is spear point and it’s got G-10 scales with flames and orange barrel spacers. HD13710 looks real nice. I’m not into the Harley knives but this one I like.

I thought the blade design was the same though... Confused I'll have to check it out again. Smiler
