Does anybody have one of the 14200-70x models? Other than the sand or foliage colored handles, is there anything else different than the 14205sbk?

Nope other than the colors they are the same.

Didn't see this post earlier, hope this helps. There actually is a more of a difference than just the G10 Color. The G10 on the 14200-701 is thicker than the 14205, making for a much overall "fatter" feeling handle. Because of the thicker G10, the axis buttons are like the ones on the 420.

Getting down to the nitty-gritty, the diameter of the head on the pivot screw is smaller on the 14200-701 and the G10 texture is different.

Great comparison, thanks. I'll take either one and am glad to at least own the 14205. These are terrific knives and Uber smooth.

I agree Joe, they are two of my favorite knives. I like the thicker handles of the 701 though, so it gets a bit more pocket time.

mlot, that's cool--thanks for posting the pix. Man, I love the 14205. I'm going to have to add one of these to my 14205 stable before they get any harder to find.

There was a limited release of a 14200-501 which had black G10, thick grooved like the 701/702 with a satin plain edge blade. A very nice piece. The only one I've seen was at the factory store and they wanted list ($220)for it. I bought a 14200-701 for far less instead and had the factory put in a satin plain edge blade for $25. I like the 14205, but I love the fatter G10 handles.

Boy that thicker G10 is a relief huh? The knife was so flimsy with that thin stuff Big Grin

ryxlyx pointed me to this thread. The 14200-70x looks great and would make a good companion for my 14205. There are still a few out there so I guess I'll have to pick one up.
