For my next purchase i am undecided wether i should get the 14205 or the sub 3 inch 12410.
Lately i grew to liking carrying smaller blades as my edc because of the compactness of the knife in my pocket. But I am undecided, is 14210
as tough as its big brother?
I really would apreciate any advice and thoughts
on the matter.
I am taking into account that the 14210 is a few dollars cheaper, as advertised and i am real
tight for funds.
Many thanks in advance.

Joe Karp loves his 14210...

I don't have one, but the 14205 rocks. It's one of my top three favorite BMs. But, it ain't small: that's a big beefy blade.

Sorry I'm no help with 14210 perspective.

The 14210 is excellent if you like the sub 3" blades. I liked it much better than the mini-grip. I sold it because I'm more into 4.5" to 5.5" handled knives.

The 14205 on the other hand is more like a 520. It is tough and a bit heavy, but if that's what you are after, it does a great job.

I honestly sold mine just because its weight pulled down on my pocket too much...which was distracting.

The quality is there on either one. I personally would start with the 14210 and get the 14205 after that.

I have both the 14205S and 14210S.

I have had the 14205S for almost a year and I find it to be one of the best folders that BM has produced.

I just got my 14210S as a companion not too long ago. I, myself, have begun to have a growing attraction towards the more compact blades, but, in my case, it's for more of a legal standpoint. The 14210 handle is a good size, along the lines of the 525. While the blade is slightly under 3", the 14210S still fits well in the hand without taking up a lot of pocket space. The G10 pattern on the 14210 has a different grain pattern giving it a smoother feel than the 14205 . The handle scales have more of a convex curve to them on the 14210 as compared to the flat scales of the 14205. One other point of difference you might have to consider is that the 14210 has a recurved blade, whereas the 14205 doesn't.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either. The only question you have to answer yourself is whether you want a larger blade or a sub 3" folder...

Normally, I would say the same thing except for the fact that he said he's tight on funds. I can completely understand that as, for the most part, so am I. It's always a heavy decision as to which knife to buy next seeing as how you don't know how long it will take you to save up for the next one. Not that you could go wrong with either, but waiting to get the other is the hardest part...

Given a choice of one over the other I'd pick the 14210 first. Easy to carry, quality build, I call mine the 'Mini-Tank' because that's what it is.

Then get the 14205 when you can. Good things come in pairs! (I'm already in trouble...) Wink

Thanks for the feedback, I think i will go with the 14210 and probably pick up the 14205 sometime in the next few months. Though I like big tough
knives, I find that for EDC practicality, a sub 3 inch blade is enough for most cutting tasks.
Thanks again and if there is any more feedback,
it would be appreciated.

Archer, as was mentioned, the 14210 has a different G-10 than you've probably seen. It has been machined (or shaped with a grinder), making it one of the best gripping surfaces in the BKC line-up. It seems a lot smaller to me that the 525 that someone mentioned, but it is still long enough to get all of your fingers on it. The mini-grip isn't quite that roomy for finger space...because its handle isn't quite as straight.
