Stings like a Butterfly

The annual BKC lunch at Blade - Atlanta was very enjoyable !!! Several of the usual attenders were absent. Probably scared off by the "Swine Flu". Others had business comittments that couldn't be cancelled. We welcome all the BM fans that joined us, including the new folks. I look forward to seeing everyone at next year's lunch !! I, for one, heard no complaints. It was a most enjoyable gathering !!

Many thanks to the Vollmer family who donated 2 NIB BM's in addition to my own for the drawing. Tique and his folks Fred and Dee have been great supporters. Again-- THANK YOU- VOLLMERS !!!

Both Les deAsis (BENCHMADE CEO & Founder) and Doug Ritter (KNIFE RIGHTS Chairman & CEO)spoke about the possible impending legal issues that may affect manufacturers and citizen owners of pocket knives and other edged tools. For more information as this develops, you are asked to access the Knife Rights Foundation web site (if you are an end item user) or if you are knife maker/manufacturer please contact American Knife and Tool Institute (AKTI). Please do NOT WRITE TO ANY OFFICIALS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AT THIS TIME !!! It is important that we all approach this potential threat in a unified, respectful and intelegent manner.

I cannot emphasize enough -- DO NOT WRITE YOUR elected officials until the above mentioned organizations who represent us get all the facts and can respond to the Customs Department proposed regulation !! THANK YOU !!!

We hope to see all of "the regulars", the "new folks" and more "newbies" at next year's lunch !!! It'll be fun for all !!

Thanks to KC Steve for the pics !!

Pete

Seems like the lunch was as much fun as I thought it would be. Too bad I couldn't make it to the Blade.
Well, there's always next year!

Pete, thanks for the heads up on the possible, yet another, upcoming battle to defend our rights.

It was great to get to meet everyone at the Blade lunch. Jenny and I had a great time. Jenny is pictured in the first picture that Steve posted. She is the one to the far left in the front. My ugly mug is not pictured so consider yourselves lucky!

Jenny really had a great time and is loveing her 527 that she won in the drawing. Thanks to everyone that made the lunch happen. A big thanks to Les for taking care of all of us and being a great host. Pete, thanks for bringing those great blasts from the past and for setting this thing up. Doug, it was nice to meet you and thank you for staying on top of all these crazy laws. Steve, thanks for bringing the giant bag o' goodies. I forgot the guy's name that set across from me, but he is the guy in the second pic far right. He had a very well used ascent that, if it could talk it would tell some great stories. Great to meet everyone and I will for sure be at the lunch next year if I go to Blade.

Thanks,

Daniel

Yes, that is a Benchmade in my pocket, and yes, I am happy to see you.
