The handle is honey-combed and there is a "clack" when opening and closing - it is a rather talkative knife, yes.
Washers are bronze. The blade finish in the action area looks different for some reason - smoother. |

The honey-comb makes it easy to weight the handle and muffle the clack. It's not hard to do, but you might be screwed for any warranty work afterwards. Since the blade doesn't hit the honey-combs just keep the weights & glue below that level and you won't have a problem.

+1 Why bother with all that hassle and void your warranty just to minimize a little noise? I want one of these as well... As soon as I can find a dealer I like that is selling them -Bill |

It's really more than the noise and the hollow feeling handle, if these are like Grips, the balance is all off because they are so blade heavy. The main purpose of the weights is to restore the balance back to near your index finger. If the unbalanced condition doesn't bother you, then you can actually enjoy a really light knife. But, if you always feel like it is trying to do a front-flip out of your hand, the weights might correct that. You can always experiment by attaching a weight to the handle with a rubber band, just to see if it improves the feel and balance. Since I've never handled one I can't really say if this is actually a problem. If the blade is extra slim, it might not be an issue at all. The warranty question is a real concern though, but considering the cost of the knife, you're really not risking much. -fj ***************************************************************************** Isn't it time to give the 520 a super steel blade? |

Oh, it is blade heavy, more so than my Ritter Mini-Grip and more like the full-size Ritter Grip.
I don't look at it as being much of an issue in these runty |
