is there a shortage on titanium now? if THIS is supposed to be what takes place of the 42 then benchmade has gone down in style and quality.....although i'll probably buy one ot say i have it

from 3.25" to 4.25" blade length is quite the jump. How about something in between, like 3.75" blade length, this is would be much more manageable/pocket-able IMO!
on that same note, how about a new model 709? Like half way in between the 707 and the 710?? I'm thinking full size liners, same design, G-10 handles, axis-lock (obviously) with a 3.5 drop-point blade! This would be my perfect knife! ******************************************************** It is better to have a knife and not need one, than to need a knife and not have one. |

Very nice. While I would be disappointed if BM stopped producing the 42 altogether (i.e., no more occasional sprint runs, like with the other 4x models in recent years), I think this is a very worthy addition to the product lineup.
I'm still not convinced of the legality of carrying it in CA, though. (CA Penal Code 653k, as it's posted online now, would seem to pretty well prohibit use/carry of balisongs, and I can't find for the life of me the "new laws" referred to in RxEnergy's link.) But, legal issues aside, if someday they do a run of these in a BK coated plain edge, I dare say I may have to get one, even if I can only carry and use it at home. |

I like it. I'm curious how it would flip though; without that large titanium mass of the handles it may be somewhat blade heavy. Unless G10 is heavier than it looks. The D2 blade is a great touch too.
