Hey all, not new to forums but brand new here. I was wondering if anyone has any extra info on the MPR that is not available on the website. I'm very interested in the makeup of the M390 supersteel. Also, has anyone had a chance to handle it at all. My BM's are the smoothest opening knives I've ever felt... does the MPR carry on this tradition. And last but not least.... and secret word on a release date? Thanks again and glad to be here. Smiler

Hi Brian, welcome!

I picked info on M-390 off one of the other forums, looks like good information...

"Steel M390PM is stainless steel produced by powder metallurgy. Steel in the calcined state of well-machining, after heat treatment has excellent resistance to wear, easily polished. Steel is a highly homogeneous structure with very fine carbides, after proper heat treatment has excellent resistance to wear and tear - durability of the blade (greater than 19 573 / D2). Steel has high toughness (resistance to breakage).

Composition: 1.90% C, 0.70% Si, 0.30% Mn, 20.0% Cr, 1.0% Mo, 4.0% V 0.6% V

Heat treatment: austenitizace in a protective atmosphere from 1070 to 1150 ° C in a vacuum from 1120 to 1200 ° C. Hardness in turbidity after 60 -62 HRC during cooling in air.
After hardening is recommended deep freeze.

Tempering: 150 to 400 ° C, the resulting hardness of 56-58 HRC."

I don't have the answer on when the knife will be out, but hope the above info helps.

Thanks a bunch man. I wonder what type of tempering process these guys will go with. I guess, maybe properly or not, that you'd want an ideal hardness of 59-61 for a folder and it says that after tempering it is 56-58 HRC.

Here's some really good reading on the M390 steel. Final process BM is calling for 60-62 HRC for the MPR.
