I had a local dealer just call me and tell me that one PE I ordered was in. She told me first MSRP was "230 somethin," I said Benchmade said its 225 and she said ok on that. She then charged me 16.50 for UPS ground from Wickenburg to where I live which is around 75 miles Frowner. I just shipped a Spyderco police to Alabama Priority mail with full insurance for 8 bux. Confused

With tax and everything It ended up being right at 260 which stinks because I was going to sell it off to a forum member that couldnt find one at my cost. I like supporting local brick and mortars but Its rather obvious why they have so much trouble competing with online dealers.

Yep Max, in LA County tax is 9.75%. It's quite ridiculous. What's even more ridiculous is having to pay it... Frowner

I live in OC. It's 8.75% here, but I spend more than half of my time and $$ in LA co.

My method of finding a few 806BK-901s was rather primitive. I looked up the zip codes for mine and surrounding States and used the BM premium dealer locater, I then started calling. As a result of that effort I now have two PE inbound with a third confirmed but not yet shipped. I figure my total time invested was about thirty minutes.

One dealer knew exactly what I was asking about but said that his list was already full for the PE models, I asked that he go ahead and add my name to the list just in case. That is one of the knives in route. Cool

A couple other Internet Dealers also knew about the knife but seemed to be irritated by me calling. They didn’t offer to help so they will not be getting any of my business again. Frowner

The other two dealers that came through for me are not web dealers at all, but they are listed as “BM Premium Dealers”. Neither of them knew anything about the knife but were courteous and professional. Both offered to take my name and check into the situation and call me back. Both called me back and confirmed that they have secured me a plain edged 806 and will ship as soon as they receive it. One of them has already shipped. Smiler Now I’m just waiting on #3

The knives – are, were, out there. You just need to take the initiative to get them. Wink

Also- all my calls were made on 7-13-09

Good job, Auto Luver. My story was I got hosed once, shafted once, broke over the desk twice and was late for one.

I don't do well picking lines at the grocery store either...I guess it's just a karma thing since my life is pretty great in every other respect. Smiler

I called alot of non internet dealers as well. I found one place that said they would get them for me but they wanted $299. That was befroe they shipped to the dealers. I told them not to bother ordering them at that price. I called them today and they never got any and won't either.
