I'll second that!! They will be available for years to come NIB old stock IMO. Especially with steel no one knows anything about much less has seen or used. I think that 755 will be a big seller at sub 200.00 on the street.

A very nice knife with crazy price. No chance for me.

@gfhoward and stanlyonjr: +1 !

The M390 is a high-end and high-priced Austrian steel from Boehler (its flagship-steel).

I am a certified Ares fanatic! I carry a 735 every day and it's 3/16" thinner than when I bought it from all the sharpening. I have several more including a few NIB reserved for my children when they're old enough.

However, this price is absurb. I could buy two or more customs for $1,000 and get knives of far superior quality.

Benchmade missed their loyal customers on this one.

Make a run of 73x in plain edge in 154cm, S30V, D2, M4, or whatever in whatever color and I'll buy a case for $150 each and they'll still make a profit.

There releasing this over priced limited edition monstrosity and were still waiting for the 755, 790, Ritter M4 ect. This has become a disturbing trend the last few years. The gold are nice mind you, but most sit on dealer shelves for quite some time ( years in some cases) before there all sold. Meanwhile were's the new production???? A very confusing business model IMO.

I guess the thing is that BM promised that they would be releasing a Gold Class every month, so they are trying to maintain that promise.

While I look forward to the anticipated 755 as well, the 790 is making it out to dealers as we speak. I know because I saw one in person. I can't speak on part of the M4 Ritters though.

Still, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Overpriced - yes. Monstrosity? I kinda like it, but not @ that price point.

lately the golds they have made over 150 of have been selling for considerably less than retail so....Im hoping that trend follows through in this knife which is nice but bang for your retail buck is definately not there. When I handled this knife at shot show I did not ask what retail was gonna be but did ask how many they were gonna make but they were unsure how many at the time. I was hoping for ALOT less than 200 maybe half that. Certainly did not expect the 1K retail price though. We as consumers are the ones who will make the demand for them which will set the selling price no matter what the retail is.

Case in point, not gonna mention names but there is a fellow that most of us know (no offense to him) but they have had a $1K retail 940TI-91 on several for sale forums and currently have it for sale around $575 (after numerous price drops). Not sure if it sold yet or not. I personally bought mine a while back on the bay for $498. Some say I got lucky but that is the case lately with gold class pieces that are being made in larger quantities like this one is. Honestly, BM's retail price can be any number they want it to be but the aftermarket will decide what it sells for. The aftermarket being us, the collectors. I know I will have one sooner or later but being that there will be 200 of them being made, Im sure they will be available for quite a while. This one is definately not on my "hurry up and buy list" that is for sure.

Now if they had made say 50-100 of em then I would be a little more hasty in snagging one of them. I have said it before and I will say it again. The current gold class knives being made are just not the same as the older ones that were released in maximum quantities of 100. Just my two cents though. Take it as you will.

I feel like they have lost some of that intangible allure which made them so attractive in the past.

Although never having owned a gold class this is a 100% arm chair opinion.
