The M390 is a high-end and high-priced Austrian steel from Boehler (its flagship-steel)

Thanks for the info. More info please. What makes it great steel?

Also, is the handle solid titnium with 2 diff finishes?

Even if Roger gets these at $500 I think I'll struggle to beg, borrow, and steal enough to snag one. But I can plot!

Roger has one up pre-sale for 850.00. I think he will have that one for awhile.

It's a good steel. Rick Hinderer's been using it on his XM-18's for some time now. (Duratech 20CV has the same compsition as M390)

Well if M390 is anything like 20CV it's garbage. IMO 20CV is the worst steel I have ever seen in a knife. I sold all my XM-18's because they would not hold an edge. Absolutly the worst knives I have ever owned. I hope M390 is better.

You seem to have very bad luck with knives!
I am not a big Hinderer fan but I had a custom XM-18 that worked very well.

i dont see how M390 would outpreform the 20CV as there the exact same composition though a proper heat treat may be the key. with that said ive owned around 10 XMs and have enjoyed them all with no complaints on the on any, especially the users.

Not bad luck with knives. Just bad luck with Hinderer knives. No worries though, there's plenty of other makers out there that make wonderful knives Big Grin
