PRESS RELEASE AKTI Heads to Boston Again Contact Jan Billeb Executive Director American Knife and Tool Institute akti@akti.org 307-587-8296 October 13, 2011 – Once again, the City of Boston is in the center of the American Knife & Tool’s efforts to stop anti-knife and anti-business laws from harming your knife community. AKTI has been monitoring recent discussions in the Boston City Council about issues with knives being illegally sold to minors. A public hearing was held in September, focusing on the idea of licensing retailers to curb knife violence, that heard public comments from concerned individuals, businesses and organizations. After doing an analysis of the situation and key persons, AKTI hired a Boston firm to represent the interests of the knife industry and knife owners to oppose licensing of knife retailers. We believe that efforts to require additional licenses to retailers would restrict businesses’ ability to sell to Massachusetts citizens and limit what Bostonians could purchase locally. After receiving a draft of the Knife Licensing Ordinance offered by Councilors Michael Ross and Tito Jackson, AKTI issued a Call to Action October 13, 2011, with AKTI President Bill Raczkowski noting, “The timing is right to let the Mayor of Boston and the City Council know that this proposal does nothing to improve public safety for the citizens of Boston or stop illegal sales to minors.”

OK here is another reason why less Government the better, why don't they look at what they have done to destroy parents ability to discipline there own children. Back in the day I had a pocket knife when I was a boy as did my father and his father, but we had respect for our parents and knew what would happen when we got out of line... You then have an America that doesn't even have it's border secured so it's a field day for drug cartels, they now control the border not us letting drugs flow into the USA and the social mess that they create. You have Gangs running rampant on the streets and police even scared to go into those areas, so what does the Government do it just attacks small business and adds more restrictions on law abiding citizens. Curb the violence with a greater police presence, more discipline on the kids from there own parents and lets put more REAL criminals in Jail with "Hard Labor" to pay there own way.
