I was not aware that BM made a multicam 1100. Does anyone know when it was produced?

Multienvironment Camouflage introduced into the market in 2004 I believe by Crye and Associates as a alternative to MARPAT (Marine and Army Pattern digital camo commonly in service today). Multicam was recently adopted as the successor to the ACU pattern for the US Army and I believe as of this year all new issued BDU's are in Multicam.

The reason it's so awesome and so talked about in the tactical community is because unlike ACU, it works everywhere. While ACU is good for fall and winter as well as dry arid environments, it sadly falls short everywhere else, and due to its lightness often gives you away when you're, for example, in a grassy, leafy environment during the summer. Multicam has the advantage of having all sorts of colors in it that blend quite well with ones surroundings. On top of that the fabric Multicam is printed on, at least for high quality BDU's, is made such that it absorbs light and actually changes color based on the lighting.

I used Multicam to great effect when I was hardcore airsofting and doing Mil Sim, while you may laugh at the sport it's very good training for tactics and movement, and also I skirmished with my SHTF gear so I knew what worked and what didn't. Multicam blending in saved my rear from a great many outs, so I believe in it.

In fairness, there are lots of great patterns out there, I like Flecktarn as well which is a German pattern that works wonders in the forrest, especially in NC where we have a lot of deciduous trees (it has a lot of brown and leafy fall colors in it). Danish M84 also works really well in spring and fall, and by that same token Canadian Cadpat which is more or less a digital version of the Danish M84. For winter ACU does a good job due to the subdued colors and lack of greens on trees.

Still tho the thing that really makes Multicam popular is it actually works year round, the colors are well done and so it can be effectively used spring to winter without too many worries. Specialized camo will always be better but if in doubt, Multicam works.
