I've been eyeballing these two pens (1150 and 1155) as of late. Despite finding a couple of video reviews on them, I still have a question or two before I am willing to shell out for one.
1. Are the pocket clips on these knives designed to be removable? 2. Just how durable are these wire clips, anyway? One of the videos I found showed one which was very clearly bent wildly out of shape. 3. One of the features that was pointed out in CutleryLover's video review was the adjustability of the head, giving you as much or as little thread to have to screw the cap on as you would like. - 3a. Is there a limit as to just how far you can screw this head down? If so... does any thread still show at this point? - 3b. It seemed perhaps a little too easy to adjust this length; will this end up requiring loctite to keep it in place? Thanks in advance for any input. |

I've had a 1155-2 for about two weeks now.
You can adjust it, but I like mine all the down which leaves about two threads. Sometimes it comes "loose" a turn, but I just twist it back down. It's not a big deal. The clip is fine for a pen, but not removable. It can be easily out of shape, but it won't happen accidentally. I clip it to the side of my pocket like a pocket knife. When I carry the pen in my pocket I have to constantly check that it didn't fall out. The paint on the pocket clip scratches easily. I scratched some paint off the pen too, but that is mostly because I'm clumsy. I went the blue ink pen because I really like the blue tip. You can buy the 1155-2 and then buy a black ink refill for $5.50 if you want the black ink with the blue tip. It already feels odd if I don't have this pen in my pocket. A lot the like the feeling when I don't carry a pocket knife. |

I just went ahead and pulled the trigger myself for the 1155-2. Had the opertunity to check one out at a local gun shop. I'm still awaiting its arrival, but the big selling points for me was its small compact size. the fact that it even had a clip. and smooth feel to it.
I owned one of the 1100 series and the big problem I had with it, was it wouldn't fit in the pen pocket sewn into my uniform without forcing it, then I couldn't get it back out.I did really like the strudy clip though the 1200 series may have been more appealing to me also if it had a clip. |
