I'm going back and rewriting the post now that I've done more research. I got my new 275BK Adamas folder (Limited Edition) in the mail yesterday from Knifeworks. It is # 7 of 1000 and I have learned that it's the same knife that Knifeworks used to do their product photo on their website . It seems at some point Benchmade did a clip change on these knives. The prototype version that was shown here had a standard Benchmade clip with a 3 hole mount. My knife has the same clip and I have seen knives on e-bay up to # 28 of 1000 with the same 3 hole mounted Benchmade clip. The clip was changed to a "deep carry" 2 hole mounted clip with a Benchmade Butterfly on it instead of the word BENCHMADE. The lowest number 2 hole clip knife I have seen was # 73 of 1000 that was sold here on the Benchmade Board. So I assume less than 72 of these knives were made with the standard 3 hole mounted clips but I'm not sure how many. If you have a BM 275BK (Black) knife with a number between 28 and 73 Please post your info here on what type of clip your knife has as I'm curious just how many were made with this standard clip.

I believe it was planned to be a limited edition in the beginning. Later is was decided to produce 'limited quantity' of the black handled version right away with plans to make it a regular production version in about a year or so.

Someones got a Black 275 w/ no #'s or markings at all....That makes 1001 at least. WTF w/ the clips?

I read that too if I remember but these are all marked "First Production" and they still state it's a limited edition of only 1000 knives.

I would be interested in hearing why different parts are being used on these, my tan has a two screw clip

I have seen some Tans too with 3 hole clips.

I read somewhere that first few made it out of the factory with the three hole standard clips, it was caught and the rest will come with the two hole deep carry clips. The three hole clips will probably only be seen on the first couple dozen or so. If anyone has any better info feel free to chime in.

Anything is possible..the handles are obviously drilled for either 3 hole clips or 2 hole clips on both sides...A lot of sellers on e-bay use "Stock photos" and not pictures of the actual knife your buying. Maybe BM can clear it up?

The only ones I have seen with the standard 3 hole clips had really low numbers. DJ had a low number as well. It would be nice to know exactly when the switch to the new clip was made. That number 7 was the knife used for product photos at KW, that's pretty cool. It's famous
