Here's the stock 15010. A very nice knife. Don't see much in the way of discussion or pictures of it on the web.

Here it is (along with its family members) with the gut-hook mostly removed, making it a very practical, all-purpose fixed Bone. For my purposes, anyway. I really like the stock finish of these blades, but I may remove all the writing at some point, except for the Benchmade logo. Goofy marketing campaign, IMO.

Nice work. I agree with you about the markings. They are actually the reason why I'm not interested in buying any of them.

Good looking mod, I like it. Smiler

As far as the markings, they don't bother me at all.

That is an interesting modification. Looks good and elegant. On a side note. How do you like your Bone Collector Large and Small. I am waiting for the large to arrive, but the small is growing on me the more I look at it.....

Thanks for all the kind comments.

I'm hoping to buy a black one and keep it stock. But most likely it, too, will get reground. I want to try one with no "fin". It will probably look very clean, but will require losing some more of the cutting edge. In the one above, the idea was to keep as much of the cutting edge as possible.

Marthinus: I must say, I LOVE them! They are very distinct in feel and application. The large is a substantial outdoor folder. Really quite big and hefty. And the small is, IMO, ideal for EDC. Not as imposing, but still exceptionally strong.

I predict they're going to be a real sleeper, a classic-in-the-making. They would just benefit from a more general-appeal marketing campaign.

Bruleront, you'll have to let us know how you came up with that screen name. Big Grin

I too have taken a few gut-hooks to the grinder. I hate gut hooks. It's nice when the blade is tall enough that you can remove the gut hook without wrecking the knife. I like your mod to that one. I guess the purpose of the gut hook is to allow you to use it like a letter opener when slitting open big game for cleaning. I guess I'd rather just use a real letter opener and not have a crippled knife for all other tasks. A Wyoming knife is really more like a real letter opener for that same purpose, but it uses a razor which should work much better I'd think. Big Grin

So yea, it looks like we're rather in agreement on gut-hooks. For one thing, this knife design automatically lends itself to being more of a standard FB. There was no loss of physical or visual balance in the end result, as I'd hoped. For another, there's still the dedicated Bone Collector gut-hook, if one still needed one and even wished to stay in the same product family.

Was going to post another pic or two, without the folders in shot, but I'm having host issues at the moment.
