I seen a pic.. dude used JB weld to smooth out the ridges on the clip side. Neat idea as long as you never swap sides.

I did the same thing 4 or five months ago, got a deal on a 520 but the scales looked a little rough, so I did the bead blast on it an filed down the ridges underneath the pocket clip until they were almost flush. Left the other ridges alone and it still had a great grip but didn't shred the pockets. I called it the 520SLV. My kid's Karate instructor saw it and wanted it pretty bad, but he was low on funds, so it ended up getting traded for a months worth of lessons for both of them of them. He still carries it daily and I see it often, the finish (or lack of) is holding up fine, still looks good. I think you'll really like this. Good choice on your mods!

Fellas, here are the pics as promised. You can see how the ridges were knocked down and the high spots were polished from the stone washing. I think it looks great, I just have to get it sent back to BM for a new plain edge BK coated blade.

A few close ups...

As for the backspacers I just measured and ordered the ones I liked from knifekits. I have a bunch laying around if you can't source them. They are the best mod for a knife carried a lot as they make it really easy to clean the knife of lint.
