Man, the fit and finish look great, I would think the same folks who like orange, pink, yellow and sky blue would be knocking down the door for for some lime green..... Go figure.

Now that you have a pattern, can you do some other material, like some burl maple, or some snake wood? The scale inserts have been bringing some healthy prices for what they are. Just a thought.

I've been thinking about it, but the problem is they're a bitch to mill because it's 3D milling and I have to mill out the backs too. Wood scales would be awfully hard to make in a CNC just because of how gently you have to treat the material.

I think if I have enough material I'm going to try some jade scales with a ghost dusting of glow material on the inside so the edges glow. Idk, just worth a try.

I really take my Hat to you Dingo, I have tried to do custom scales for a 587 (well actually NOT me personally but with a Craftsman here in PA).

He did the ones we did the old school way, by hand and it was a nightmare... They came out beautiful but to do any of this without a proper CNC Machine and CAD Files is incredibly hard.

So I salute you Matey...

Dingo, when you get to the point that you can economically turn out rounded, 3D milled handle scales for 710's and 805/806's, you'll be busy. The Axis slot has been the hard part to get right. It's either too thin and weak or so thick that you can't grasp the Axis buttons. Adding sculpted grip to G-10 has been another problem. That recent 800LE seemed to have it solved, as did the G-10 grips on the 520 Bone Collector. Being able to do these in either G-10 or Micarta would also add to the demand. Cool

I don't think you'd need to worry about getting too fancy, like putting CF bolsters on G-10 scales. Just simple one-piece rounded slabs of G-10 or Micarta would fill a void that has existed as long as I've been here on the forum. Smiler

Good luck!
