#18 just landed today. This knife feels every bit as good as it looks. Light, solid, gorgeous. It is what I have always hoped for from Benchmade, custom quality, Axis lock, and Benchmade precision. Fantastic. I have a new answer for those if-you-could-only-keep-one threads.

Too bad you're not just a little closer, I could take a few pics of the thing for you and put them up. Still anything's possible...

I played with one of these a week ago and it's everything a person could want in one knife. Benchmade really did well, and on this example I could find no flaws anywhere.

Wow that is quite an endorsement.

Yes. This is a great knife. It has to be one of Benchmade's top five best production knives ever made, along with the Gold Class 525, Gold Class Skirmish, 940DM, and CF-M4 AFCK LEs.

Everything is hand-made quality, or better. The fluted handle surface is functional and beautiful, the BC fasteners and pocket clip are something you might only find on a collector grade hand-made knife, milled back spacer, thumb studs, and Axis buttons, super-premium blade steel. The Axis lock itself is superior to all but the most precise hand made button locks. The blade grind is perfect. The only possible non-premium feature on it is the lack of a hand finish, but the BK coating somewhat makes up for that. The only drawback is, you can have a hand satin finished blade re-finished any time, but a BK coated blade you can't refinish.

Fit and finish are flawless. In fact the pivot seems extraordinarily smooth. I pull back on the lock bar, and the blade swings almost without any resistance, yet there is no lateral blade play. Most of my Axis knives, I like to adjust all but the tiniest amount of lateral blade play out, and that means a slightly retarded blade swing. Not with this knife.

This is absolutely the last Benchmande, probably the last folder, I would part with.
