Just arrived from Boobar, here's my new 520/Bone Hybrid. This is replacing the stock 520 I now have for sale and is everything I'd hoped for...here's pics:

Thanks Steve. The G-10 scales on these are terrific. Little thicker than those on the stock 520 but just as comfortable in the hand.

Interesting mod.He must not have liked the thumb hole or something ..I think the D2 blade that comes with the bone is almost perfect.

It's actually a combination of events that make this mod work for me. I love the Presidio series but not the aluminum scales, and prefer the look of the stock 520 blade over the D2 used on the 15020. And I prefer the Spydie hole over the standard studs in general.

I also own a 15030-1 Mini-Bone and like it just as it is. The D2 blade is a good one and really slices.

The thumb hole was part of the reason for doing the mod. I also didn't like the graphics on the Bone Collector blade. I like the 520 blade but have never been a fan of the aluminum handles. This mod just seamed to be the perfect mix of the 2.

I agree, a little thicker 710 handle, allowing for and incorporating this kind of machined grip would be a big improvement!

Just try it once...on the upcoming M390 710 handle.

I sold my WARN 583-1 in an effort to get a black and green large Bone and swap out the blade from my 520. When I saw the combo Boobar had for sale (and great pics Bob) I knew I had the combo I wanted.

Also that left the 520 as I received it in the original configuration, un-altered.

These handle scales are awesome. Much easier in the pocket and as an option fits perfectly sans clip in a large velcro BM pouch.

One touch I did was swap off the black studs from another model onto the 520 blade, and it looks pretty good.
