It looks great (better than a factory non-coated blade). Shines like a mirror! But out of curiosity - If you just wanted a silver blade...Why didn't you send it and $25 in to Benchmade for a non-coated blade in the interest of time and polish that one? Was it just something you wanted to see if you could do? Also, did the knife get scratched up any when you did the coating removal and you buffed those out as well? I ask this because the 950 Rift I gave my wife has some minor scratches on the blade from the previous owner and I was thinking about trying to buff them out, but don't know what I should use to make it shine like yours? What polish did you use? This message has been edited. Things take on a life of their own sometimes, that's the short answer. I never intended to go so far originally. When friend Skimo volunteered to do the initial BK removal I thought it would be a quick task. Didn't turn out that way. In the process, the thing learned was just how deep the coating bonded to the D2 blade...and even Benchmade offered to replace the blade for nada the first time I sent it up for sharpening...but by that time I'd already committed myself to seeing what I could do and you see the result in the pics. BTW - there are very light scratches on some of the leading edges, but I'm happy with it as now is. Will I ever do that again? It does look good, but I do agree about shying away from doing it again - I bet it was a chore! I am still holding off from doing this treatment to my 806BK-901. It still looks pretty good but at some point.. I believe this is what I will be doing. to the ol'girl _________________________________________ ... it's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses...Hit it...! That looks sweet man! I bet it was a lot of work! My dad sent his camo-handled Griptilian back with Benchmade while we were at Blade for a non serrated and non coated blade. They sent it back without charge and a new blade! I still can't decide if I like coated better or not. Don't know how well their coating holds up yet. Thanks for the compliments. When the idea of stripping the BK coating off the 710D2 came to mind, I had a lot of time on my hands and it was very therapeutic, gave me something do do every day. Now this same knife might well be the last one I'd let go of, and it gets carried a lot. 350, 520, 525, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100.
