That's pretty much it: Would somebody who has both a 520 and a 522 post a pic of the two side by side?

A 525 and 527 pic would work too since I can never tell the difference without something in the pic to use as a frame of reference.

Thanks.

Thanks for the pics KJ. Don't you guys wish the Presidios had a little more menacing looking blade? I realize they are great work knives and all, but they just look like they were designed to not offend sheeple. I guess if they were morphed a bit to look a little more like a 690 blade it wouldn't feel so much like I was carrying a Cub Scout knife. Roll Eyes

Sorry fj, I can't agree with you on that one. I enjoy the blade shape of the 520/525 because it is simple yet functional. The other huge plus, for me at least, is that with the blade shape being as simple as it is, I can sharpen it with ease. Unlike my 710 and 910... Roll Eyes

Thanks for posting the picture kj. I had never done a side by side with the 525 and 527. I thought that they were the same dimensions, but it looks like the 527 has a longer handle.

Thanks for the pics, KJ.

You guys all know how much I like and EDC both the 520 and 525, but I must admit that there are times when I do wish the blade was pointier. Not as much as a 615, but maybe a little.

Chang, BM specs say the 525 and 527 are the same. However, the 520 and 522 have the same handle, but the 522's blade is marginally larger. (3.47" vs. 3.42")

What I'm curious about is whether or not a blade swap is possible. As long as the handles are identical, it ought to be possible.

Thanks for the confirmation Tb. I thought that I should have checked the website or catalog for specifications before calling that out. Pictures can be deceiving(no criticism to you knife_junky)...I know when I took an initial picture of my 710SBKD2 next to my Mini Hardtail, the Mini Hardtail looked bigger, but it was because of the angle that I took the picture at.

FJ-

I hear you man, I'd be all over a 615ish kind of spear point, that'd be an awesome knife.

You're right Rezarf, I was looking through my knife drawer trying to figure what blade would look nice on a 520 and I too came up with a 615. It's a little more sexy and a little less utilitarian.

Edit: Ya know, I've got a 520 arriving tomorrow. Maybe I'll take it out to the grinder and give that blade some swagger!

Actually, I was gonna suggest to Rezarf that he send his 520 to Fj--who would slap it on the grinder and reprofile it. But, lo and behold, Fj's already talking about doing the same thing.

On second thought, Rezarf, don't send Fj your 520. It might come back with a blade the same size and shape as a mini-Grip. EekerWink

Joe, thanks for the pix.
