Aside from what could be an Axis-like mechanism this doesn't look like anything Benchmade's ever made. Nice looking though...

There are many locks that look similar to the Axis. Some are close to an Axis and some are very different. My knowledge is only from reading about them. I have never handled one that I can remember.

SOG uses an Arc-Lock
Cold Steel-Ultra Lock
Lion Steel (New to USA)- Tactical Operation Lock system. The mechanism secures the back spring

I’m sure there are more I can’t remember at the time.

Maybe that logo will help identify the manufacturer. It looks a bit like a bobcat, but it's hard to tell.

I think RX posted pics of this before. Its a custom knife maker in Russia who licensed the axis lock I believe.

I don't think he's licensed, but his omega springs are slightly different from those BM uses.

I’m sure there are more I can’t remember at the time.

Plunger lock Grant and Gavin Hawk came up with for their D.O.G. folder.

PS I do remember some people saying that they replaced their BM omega springs (I guess sometimes they do snap) with those taken out of Cold Steel AK47 model. It was a perfect match. Identical mechanisms. Springs look like they are single egg twins Smiler

And if not for the tendency of SOG's Arc-Lock to get lose fast and parts getting lost it'd be right up there with AXIS. Very smooth lock. And it gives the ability to use a blade with a flipper on a knife. Almost a dream come true...
Almost... I guess the lock was still kinda "raw" when it went into production and nobody cared enough to work out all the defects even years after... It's a SOG after all.

I owned two sog's w/ arc locks in the past and I would say it was smoother than the axis. I liked it a lot actually. Its unfortunate that I am on a life long SOG boycott lol

I had three. Only two of them are still with me. After some parts from my SOG Vulcan's lock decided to be come emancipated from the rest of the knife and didn't even let me know where and how they planning to make living I decided to keep the other two at home. Where I can see 'em.
