I rubbed the blade down with an old sanding pad which was wet with Militec-1 oil. It was easy to remove the coating.
However, the thumb studs were very difficult to remove because BM seem to have used red loctite on the threads of this knife.

So, I'm gathering that removing the BK coating does not remove the etching of the name of the designer or limited edition #'s?
At least from what I can make out in your photo.

From the ones I have done, you need to be careful if you are trying to save the writing. If you get too aggressive, the writing gets really light or disappears.
