So I received a Benchmade Harley Davidson Mini Hardtail and I have to say that I don't regret it at all. My biggest issue with this model was the Harley Davidson labeling and logos on the knife, but, following the words of dj, I looked past the HD logos and appreciated the knife for what it was.
I had never handled this model or seen it in person before ordering it and when I saw it in person, I thought it was a great looking BM. It feels good in the hand. The Axis lock function was smooth as always. The D2 blade was quite sharp. The G10 in the handle has a little bit of texture to it for grip and the scales are also convex as compared to using flat G10 pieces, which I believe the shape helps with grip as well. After seeing and handling the Mini Hardtail, I have to say that this model is a must have. The logos are more subtle than the pictures online show. The model reminds me, as well as others, of the Buck classic folders but improved because of the Axis lock, blade steel, and because it's made by Benchmade |

I agree I handled all of them, a very well put together line knives. But I want my knives to have as little or few logos and trademarks on them. At some point I may add a couple of them to my collection but Its hard to justify the extra $$ to have a HD bar & shield logo on it. I owned a HD motorcycle for years and talk about the bug most HD guys would buy rubber dog crap if the HD bar and shield was on it.. BM should do very well with these provided the economy improves..

I agree with Chang,I was a bit hesitant for a few reasons;I never really cared for Bowie blades(got rid of my 720s mainly for this reason,I like the blade on the LE 723SBKD2 much better),plus I was never all that crazy about the Buck 110 kind of styling. What made me re-consider was not knowing if BM would ever do another double-bolstered knife again(something I've hinted at for a LONG time!).I bought both the Hardtail and the mini Hardtail both in the satin finish combo edge and really like them both, even the bowie blade just seems to fit on this style and I don't seem to mind it.
About the only complaint I had was that the edges on the aluminum could've been ever so slightly more rounded,I tend to open all my axis locks with both sides pulled back and the tail of the knife butted up against my palm.I simply polished the edges a slight bit(like maybe just a 1/4 of a mm)along the edges, just ever so slightly rounding them w/o ruining the knives lines. Now they're both more comfy. I'd REALLY like to see a whole line of (BM)knives made in this way.(Grips like this(double bolstered)=close to my "Holy Grail" for knives) This message has been edited. that's how I open mine too, my 950s tip has caught my palm a few times, so now I'm using one side of the axis lock to close and now I'm actually using thumstuds for the first time in years.

You guys are right...the hardtail is great. I couldn't deal with the logos though so I'm getting the G-10 replaced with carbon fiber. Hopefully, comes out ok.

That's very cool JoeJutsu. Please do share pictures when the project if finished. I could really do without the skull, but it's subtle enough that I wouldn't change it.

These hardtails really caught my eye when they came out.. I'm not a Harley man by any means, but they're good looking knives, and with the axis lock, what more could you want! Its a shame everytime I go to buy a knife this one slips my mind
