So while I was waiting in my local H-D shop the other day, I wandered over to see if they have the BKC/H-D knives. They did, so I checked out the 13710 just for kicks.

Here's the problem, I couldn't get the knife to open! Confused And the kicker is that the saleswoman said she can't open it either, and neither can any of the customers. I finally got it open using two hands.

This is supposed to be assisted opening. Does anybody have one? And is theirs good? I wonder if the pivot screws were just tightend down too much....I guess that explains why nobody has bought the $150 knives.

It was pretty cool though. Felt good in the hand, nice and slim, cool details, great blade shape (IMHO). Cool

BTW, they didn't have the valox-handled mini-Hardtail.

Sounds like the pivot's too tight. I have the HK branded 14460BT (same knife) and it's very smooth. Great EDC.

Maybe next time ask 'em if you can borrow an HD/Benchmade 'Black Box' and whip out the T-10 to back that pivot off!

It could also be an angle thing - on a lot of assisted openers you must move the thumbstud at about a 45 degree angle from the handle or it will not move.

But it's probably the pivot.

Yeah, I figure it is the pivot screw too. Even after I pulled the blade about 3/4 open, it never finished opening...it just sat there partly open. Funny thing was that the other three in their boxes were the same way. It's going to be hard to sell those four knives at that price point when nobody can open them.

That's a shame because it's a pretty cool knife. I may pick up the HK version.
