Tactical Knives Mag May 2010 There is an article about the Harley Davidson Mini Hardtail Lightweight MODEL:13150-1. BY Len McDougall Small article with a number odd errors that make me believe that this reviewer never actually handled the knife. But pictures show someone’s hand. Knife never referred to as 13150-1 or Mini Hardtail Lightweight. Just Mini-Hardtail (different knife.) details matter. Valox scales with G-10 inserts?? Valox seems to be the best thing since sliced bread (my words not his.) I mean, it’s OK. Clip secured by three Allen-type hex screws???? (This is a knife magazine???) Offered in Plain Edge and Partially Serrated???? Is it?? EDIT: HD website lists one combo avail Then a bunch of stuff about it being as tough as the men who ride and rising gas prices and freedom, OPEC. Anyone read this? This message has been edited. No, but judging by your review, I'm sure I won't bother. The remark about "the men who ride and rising gas prices" is even more off-putting than the inaccuracies about the knife, itself. Nobody with whom I ride has ever bothered to check their gas mileage - it's completely beside the point. But I know its a knife review, not a bike review. But it still puts me off the article, not the knives. ************************************************************************ Charter Member #9 and Skullmaster °„° Lum Lunatics Brotherhood of the 420 Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | General, and Member #950 Pardue Pimps® #3 Jack of all Trades, and Good Enough to get Paid for All of Them. ************************************************************************ "No time for the old 'in-out,' luv - I've just come to read the meter!" -Alexander DeLarge (Prisoner Number Six Double Five Three Two One)

Got the issue in question. I normally buy it to look at the pictures and not read the articles. Sort of what we used to say about "Playboy." Wait... Maybe that is backwards? Anyway, anything written by Michael Janich is good, Steven Dick is not too bad either. Mike Rigg's article is pretty good too. Some other folks don't impress me much. ----------------- Current President Brotherhood of the 420 & Viceroy of the Knights of the Gravitator. SPTA Founding Member. Do you also read the knife magazine from back-to-front? Everybody "reads" playboy that way, too...

Not TK... They have "Gunny" now talking about knives. What does the guy know about knives in the first place!?!? And he is now on SOG's payroll. It is sort of silly. ----------------- Current President Brotherhood of the 420 & Viceroy of the Knights of the Gravitator. SPTA Founding Member. What is Valox, exactly, and why do you think it's the best thing since sliced bread? Do you think the blade is kind of important, too? Do you have this knife?

Hi Len, welcome. On Valox, it's another form of plastic, molded to form. It's used on the Griptilian and Barrage models, probably more too. Very strong, takes a lot of abuse and can come in a lot of different colors. And oh yeah, the blade's the thing, the handles just get it to what needs cutting. And Benchmade does a great job with their D2, it's good stuff. 350, 520, 525, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100. Len, In your article about the HD Mini Hardtail Lightweight, I’m going off memory now not having the article in front of me. You discuss the benefits of Valox as if it’s the best possible choice of all handle materials. That is the impression the reader gets. It’s good stuff but far from the glowing review you gave it. Is your question “What is Valox?” serious or sarcastic? I do own this knife HD Model 13150-1 and there is no model with G-10 inserts. That’s not a mistake someone who is actually holding this knife can make. In the world of folding knives there is a huge difference between Hex screws and Torx screws. Knife enthusiasts know this. Not to be a smart ass, but are you aware of the difference? The blade matters. Getting the blade steel correct (D2) does not give the author license to make a number of errors on the handle and hardware. Some small, some not so small. Did you actually handle and use this knife for your review? Steve Tucson, AZ
