I guess it's just out of the ordinary for me ...since the first Benchmade I bought way back when, everyone had the blade centered.

This one is way right if you look at when closed the the tip of the blade is facing your. Just barely clearing the liner. Smoothness isn't hindered nor performance ...just looks odd since it's a BM??? Maybe I;m just to picky ... I can be a nerd like that sometimes Razzer Big Grin.

BTW, s_f Welcome to the forums.

i sell knives where i work, so i see a lot of knives almost every day. from all of the high end knives we carry, ive found you cant expect for there to not be defects in every single knife that a manufacture puts out. hell, a good example would be the bm opportunist. every one we have in stock makes a rattling noise when you shake it. it turns out, one of the little spacer bars on the spine towards the end of the handle rattles. like i said, that was on every one we had in stock. so basically, i wouldnt worry that your knife is a bad one or that it doesnt have the good old benhcmade quality, it just happens to be one that didnt get looked over quite as closely as the rest. i love the rukus myself. one of my all time favorites.

Hello Raven I know your questions have already answered but I just thought I would add my 610 does not have the blackwood logo on it while my 615 does, this is because when blackwood cut ties with benchmade they stopped putting his logo on both the 610 and 615, IMO they are both phenominal blades... Some of my favs to carry..

I just bought a 615bk off of ebay a couple of weeks ago and just love this knife. I had no idea this knife is being discontinued. I feel lucky to have got it. I think I'll look for another one just because. This was my first Benchmade and a 585 as my second just a week ago, also off of ebay. Love that one to except I want to change the plastic to G-10. The plastic makes the knife feel cheap.

Welcome DapperDan.

If you like the 585, but don't like the valox handles scales, there is the 585-1 SHOT Show Special. It is the exact same thing as the 585, but it has G10 scales instead.

DJ hit the nail on the head.

You need to get a Torq head driver in sizes #6 and #10

Then just loosen each of the screws just to where they are no longer tight... no more.

Then grabbing the knife and facing the blade towards you, flex the whole thing by pressing on one side or the other. If you watch the tip you will see it move significantly with little effort.

Once it is centered, begin by snugging all the screws down, but not tightening them yet. Then from the end of the knife crank them down moving towards the pivot.

I have yet to find a knife I can't straighten the position of the blade with this method.

Awesome knife. It is perhaps my favorite! Big Grin
