It's called a mini because it's got a very big brother. I never got why it was discontinued, I've asked and got some very intelligent answers but still... This the knife that can hold it's when compared to the other "Built like a tank" higher end and more expensive knives.

Yeah, I agree. Knife of the year and now it is discontinued????? Kinda weird. I may have to save up my beans and buy another as a backup as I am sure they will go up considerably once they become a bit more sparse. I fixed my first fire with my 610 this morning, a job usually reseved for my M2HS 140 or my 710-801... I must say the 610 made LIGHT work of kindling and its ergonomics are vastly superior to the 140 for aggresive cuts. Overall I am stoked! *********************** -Drew Make a life not a living... | 520 | 522 |800s | 520s | 806-901 | 806sbk-CF | 710-801 | 610 | 615 | 6150 | 943 | 760 lfti | 3300 | 806 D2 | 740s

Much like you, I've found my Nimravus getting little use since I brought a 610 into the family. It really is just like a good fixed blade, that has the bonus of being pocketable. ______________________________ 530-901 / 610-A / 805-1101 / 950BK-1001 / 10750BP

Yeah, Nimravus HS verses 610 Rukus... and the winner is... Probably both Here they are, both fantastic knives... this might help folks see some of the pro's and cons of each. Here you can see the differences in the handle shapes, the 610 is much more contoured than the 140 (aluminum scales not the g10). Both are comfortable to grip, but I give more points to the 610 for comfort... perhaps more points should go to the 140 for bombproofness and grip when wet as the 610's G10/Micarta can be a bit slick in facotry form. The Rukus handle is MUCH longer giving it an overall length advantage over the 140. I have medium/large hands and I have LOTS of room to still hold onto the Rukus. If you have gorilla hands, this is your knife. As for the blades the 140 beats out the 610 by about 1/4" or so of usable edge. However the thickness on the Rukus is considerably beefier. Also, the 140 has a "flatter" edge, where as the 610 has much more "belly to it" in fact, my Rukus has no straight section to the edge it is curved from the plunge to the tip. Where the 140 has a lot of straight edge before rounding up and out to the tip. Both have advantages and when sharp they both perform equally well. Steel: M2HS verse S30V. Its like choosing between a Fararri and a Lamborgini... both rock, its more personal preferece. I like the S30V in an outdoor knife. But man, the M2HS is nearly unequaled in edge retention. Just a few thoughts. Sorry for the crappy pics, I can't redo them as the 610 bumped the 140 out of the safe... and it is on its way to a new home.
