The first part i would like to mention is weight of the pens. I removed the ink cartriges as some of them where new and some I have been writing with everyday. I did leave the spring and the plastic recepter cap thingy that goes on the back of the ink cartridge inside the pen. These are my findings. KG./ G/ oz .033/ 35/ 1.2 1100-12 Blue Aluminum .050/ 53/ 1.8 1100-15 Ti pen .087/ 89/ 3.0 1100-13 Damascus .086/ 89/ 3.0 1100-3 Stainless steel Next would be texture The Alum. and SS versions feel very smooth. Minus here where the knurling is located on the pen. Which affords you a very good purchase on the pen as you write. I carry the Blue pen to church now and again.... The stainless version on the other hand, I carry 5-6 times a week, at night, while delivering Pizza. You may have seen photos where i have aquirred a second cap so that when i hand it to the customer they do not try and write with the point or hurt themselves trying to click the pen open on either the tactical point The Damascus pen has a wonderful finger print type texture that seems to hold on to you as you are writing. I have enjoyed it very much and carry it daily to Carpet One where I do lots of figuring of flooring jobs and some writing of proposals. Now, on to the most recent addition to my pen line up. The Annodized Blue Titanium Pen. Against this blue carpet it looks a bit washed out graish Blue Now when shot on a beige carpet and a slightly different angle it looks much more blue. This pen has a wonderful texcture uniquely different all together. I look for a way to best discribe it. Tho it is similar to the aluminum in reflectiveness it feels as tho it is a satin finish. A micro texture. not really noticeable unless your holding both in your hand at the sametime. Just an ever so slight bit of gripiness. I have to run so I'll add a abit more later to the review as i carry the pen over the next week or so... and try to add a few more pics. most likely in the product photo section. Well, considering I could acomplish the same task with a .10 cent Bic stick pen.. Some might say, "No way!". I on the other had I say this. In the right environment it is well worth the Money. Please allow me to expound on why I feel this way. I would buy the Ti pen over the Aluminum pen for the weight difference. It feels better. I write on carbon copies thru out my day, 3-4 pages thick at times. So, the extra weight of the Stainless steel version/Damascus is very much welcomed. But, for everyday casual writing the Ti pen seems to be dead on with its weight. The Aluminum pens are very nice, in that they weigh close to nothing. Which means they are very easy on shirt pockets. or floating in a pants pocket. But, I find I am always feeling around to make sure it is there/with me. This is in part, why I wear my pens as a pendants. 1) it is always there ready when i am. Sometimes when not in use i tuck it into the inside of my shirt so it is not waving around. But, when i am doing multiple things it is nice that I can sign/jot something down and then re-cap the pen quickly, handle a few items with both hands then jot something else down. 2) This next reason could have been included with reason 1... it is that it's always right there. I have less of a tendancy to set the pen down, and walk away from it as it's most natural resting place is back in the cap, that's attached to me.... So I don't leave it behind. 3) again includable in the first two reasoning.... is that if some one asks, " Have you a pen i may borrow?", You may reply, "Why, yes I do." and, hand them the pen with out the cap... upon which who wants to take half a pen. It is most certain to return to the cap/owner very quickly after preforming the task upon which it was borrowed to perform. In Which case, the pens (1100 series) always recieves and inquiring glace as they go to write with the pen. Even garnering a "Nice Pen, Who makes/ where'd you get it". Benchmade manufactures them. Benchmade? Yeah they make knives too... Depending on that response i decide on whether or not to whoop out the knife of the day. And have a bit further discusion. I tell ladies if they had it clipped to the side of their purse they would have an excellent defensive tool if someone approached them. Many times that gets an approving nod. So, yes the pen is worth the money I spent on it. You can find them at a pretty good savings if you look around. Plus, this was an early Sobriety gift to myself this year. I celebrate October 1st for this reason. I will have 3 years this year. I had to start over..... as I had gone off the wagon for 10 months, 4 years ago this Christmas. I had 9 years and 9 months of sobriety before that. And, 2 more years a few months prior to that. Bumpy Road Huh? I am sitting in the middle of the wagon wearing a seatbelt these days and have a few more people around me to help me hang on and not fall off again. So, I think of these pens as my sobriety rewards. I could have drank the money i spent for the pen..... but I would not have had much to show for it but a hangover and some empty cans or bottles. I believe it was money well spent. So, very much worth the asking price. This message has been edited. Thanks BlueRam for this write-up. So far I have 3 BM 1100. SS/black ink, gold/blue ink and grey/black ink. For EDC, I prefer the aluminum models. I am looking at the Ti for my next 1100 purchase. You must be getting huge tips for the pizza deliveries to have all those 1100. __________________________ * Allen Elishewitz Preservation Society Founding Member #3 * Brotherhood of the 420 & Viceroy of the Knights of the Gravitator Member * Lum Lunatics Charter Member #15 * President of the Gentleman Society for the Preservation of the 960 Innova * Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance Member #2 * Blackwood Society member #610 Red, Blue and Black Class, Pre-Productions, Limited Editions | |||
