Actually, I found a small stack of them at my yuppee pusher's on the other side of town. I hand-picked a centered blade to follow me home - at a decent price. Rumor has it that my bride bought me a 520 for my birthday this month.

First impressions: I don't like clips - they end up in the boxes within minutes of my arriving home. This one's was cheesy - and only had one mounting position - tip down. The S30V and 'LERCH' were viewable on the bade's backside closed. Opened, the patent info and 'First Production XYZ/1000' can also be seen. The front side has the reversible step-tapered thumb stud and the BM logo, model, and USA.

The Ti handle has two sets of stepped size and polished dimples and three curved grooves on each side. The framelock's base relief is inboard - and the split from the handle does not have an enlarged hole at it's terminus as most such do - it is rounded slightly, however. The blade is centered closed - and is well proud of the back spacers. Extended - with a definite 'lurch' - pun intended - the framelock has a proper ~40% engagement with the blade. Mine improved in both opening and closing with a bit of clock oil applied via the needle applicator to the pivot, etc. Sharpness-wise, the bevel is even and uniformally sharp - an armhair popper out of the box.

Mine has a home, that's for sure. I drove across town to look at some higher end knives - the 790 was unexpected. My usual pusher missed a sale or two due to his ignoring my questions re the 790 & 520 - I tried to keep my shopping there. Check around - I was shocked - and in a good way!

I've handled a few--beautiful design, fantastic build quality. The Nitrous Assist isn't for me, but different strokes and folks and all that applies.

I think the Subrosa has a sophisticated design and jewel-like attention to detail and aesthetics that's an unusual turn for Benchmade--I hope it's something that continues in the future.

The 755 all but replaced the 710 for EDC... now the 790 competes with the 755... I carry both! The ZT-301 rides when I need a short sword...
