My experience with knives started with a leatherman e33l, shortly followed by spyderco and the BM grip. I liked the spydie-hole, and the ergonomics on Delica4 or the Sage II, but was not very fond of the grip (the scales dug into my hand while doing some heavy cutting, which I disliked). Eventually, I sold the grip, and was using Delica4 or the Sage II as my EDC.

A month or so ago, I came across the mini-Mk1 on bladeforums, and thought of giving it a try. Since my experience with a grip was not so great, I was slightly skeptical when I got it. I am happy to say the Ritter grip has far exceeded my expectations about an EDC knife, and I ended up selling the Delica4!!!

There are numerous reviews on the ritter grip, and I don't wish to re-iterate what's been already said, but still wish to add the "striking" differences that made me favor the ritter mini-grip.

  • fabulous balance - the blade size balances very well reducing the cutting effort required.
  • EDC-perfect size - the under 3" blade is perfect for my hands, as well as pocket-friendly.
  • smoothest opening, and tight tolerances makes it a pleasure to flip open and close. None of my knives are so smooth!
  • extended thumb-jimping on the blade is nicely shaped (square), and does not dig into your thumb while applying pressure.
  • stonewash-finish of the blade is superb.

I believe it will be a long-time EDC for me know. Thanks Mr. Ritter (and others) for the design, and BM for making it "affordable".

Now for some photos (please disregard the pocket lint :-))

Could someone explain to me how the ritter grips are different from the regular griptillians? From what I see it's just the stonewashed finish, but I've never actually owned a griptillian so I wouldn't know

The blade style is the main difference.

Ah, just looked it up. s30v blade, stonewashed finish, more blade width-wize. Still doesn't give me a reason to buy a grip when I have such a wonderful 940 to do its job Big Grin

SnowCrash, the easy reason is that choices are a good thing.

I have had a not-Ritter mini grip for a while. I recently got a 943 - Osborne is the man. I still carry the mini when the I am wearing Levis. The 943 lives on my desk and gets the nod when I am wearing something nicer than jeans.

If I had my druthers Smiler, I'd like a chance to buy more of the GPK exclusive Mini-Grip 556 w/M30 Super-Duper Blade steel and Kevin Wilkins Handles in all different colors and textures.
I've never bought a better knife - no matter the cost!
I bought three and I sold one to a newbie.
