Does anyone own one of these? (707-901) Thoughts compared to other 707 models? Only 50 made! Why not more demand? Because it's S30v not M4? Like to hear your thoughts. Big Grin

Yes I have one.
It's a nice knife
50 made because that's how many Roger from KnifeWorks ordered.

Very nice knife. I have that one, the greed handled D2 version and a normal black version (my first benchmade!). The silver looks much more formal than the others. The 707 is one of my favorite knives - small enough to carry everywhere but still has a lot of "heft" to it. It just feels like an incredibly strong knife.

I think the 707 limits its potential market due to its size. Its super small, I can't hold one comfortably at all. I owned a regular one and sold it awhile ago because it was uncomfortable in my hand.

I think the knife nut is right from a collector standpoint, although you can collect many more small knives in less space than bowies or swords. Still there is a huge market for smaller pocket knives and gentleman's folders perhaps those customers just arent in the market for a limited edition folder? I paid $325 for my small micarta sebenza, that is probably about the same size as the 707, and I got an amazingly lucky find or I'd have paid the full $400 for it happily. I have the large as well but find the small much handier and much more likely to be in my pocket every day.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer a small knife over a lager blade. But I found the 707 to be just tad too small for me to hold comfortably. Another .4 or .5 inchs in the handle and it would be all good.

On a side note, do you find the area you "grip" on the 707 and small seb compatible. I often wonder if I should have got a small, but I thought it would be too small to hold comfortably, so I went with the large. If I couldn't handle the 707's size would I also have issues with a small seb?

I don't think collectors are too worried about finding space for their knives. They buy knives they based on if they like them or not, not based on if they have big enough drawers or not.

The 707 is just not a real popular knife. It's very small, strictly a three finger knife. The small Sebenza, while of similar size, is still a little bit bigger and has ergos that allow you to get a traditional four finger grip. Also the 707 is an aluminum frame which is a big turnoff for me. I much prefer the good ole 705. I also like the slimmer blade profile the 705 had.

I see. Wasn't familiar with it, and didn't know what some people;s criticisms were. Thanks for the reply. And sure I mean plenty of people collect Samurai swords too but, many hobbiests prefer smaller items because they can collect a lot more. That's why hotwheels are "hotter" than 1:24 die cast cars though both are popular. A lot of antique collectors prefer salesman's samples to the real thing because they can fill their home with miniature appliances and furniture. I am new to knife collecting, thoough I've loved sharp objects since birth. I didn't know if knife collectors felt the same. I guess thereis a lot of cross over these being tools we can use as well as collect. I have one big sebenza but would only continue to collect small sebenzas with interesting inlays or LE's because I like them more than the large abnd I could collect a lot more of them than the large. Anyway just a though.

What do others think about the 707?

I love the 707. Beautiful and nice size for my tastes. I am truly a fan of smaller knives. The 77X series are my favorite.
