Hey fellas,

I have had this knife for several weeks now. I left it in the box/in its sac for a while.. having to pull it out every time I wanted to show it.
Then I kept it in it's sac, in my shirt pocket. for quicker displaying purposes.
Then it was floating in my pocket with no pocket change or anything to scratch it..
At each level of carrying ease I began firing it more and more often. At first it took some practice to activate the lever lock and not linger on it causing the knife to not lock fully open. As I have cycled it a few hundred times now it opens and locks with much greater success.

then one day I eased my keys off in the same pocket for a brief moment and I was like,"Ok back in the Box you go"

I found I missed her to much and opted for a leather pouch. The knife sits securely but be mindfull of the metal revit in the inside of the pouch at the bottom...ie Why my pouch has one of my extra benchmade sacs inserted into it.
The knife now slides into and out of it's velvety soft pouch with ease. Additional material the sac adds holds the knife a bit more securely, while holding it a little of the bottom of the pouch because of the depth of the pocket making it some what easier to pullout with minor difficulty. Ultimatly I decided to weave some dress shoe laces together and pick up a packet of (4) pewter cones from a Beading Shop. They had a similar ribbon patteren as the knife.

The anodizing on the knife is very, "intriguing"
it changes colors in different lighting and from different angles.

The most promenate color is purple with a hint of blue, highlighted with a twinge of green moving into a yellowish tone when viewing the knife from a variaty of angles.
The finish has proved to be quite durable for the few encounters it has had where it was not in it's protective leather sheath.

The knife came amazingly sharp. I really don't use it. I cut a few loose threads off the shirt and opened a letter or two.

This is more about the eye candy. Solid little knife and totally functional. And very Sheeple friendly. Nice to warm them up before I go whoopin out my 610 or my 760 LFTi

In closing the Benchmites in regular or Auto
HD version or one of the limited edition versions are all AWESOME in my book.
They make great gifts for your buddies, very office freindly, Legal in just about every state I can imagine. Buy one of these Benchmade "Bugs" for one of your buddies and see if they don't catch "Knifeides" also known as
"I got to get me one OF Those" disease Big Grin

Hope you all have a great day Cool

Nice lanyard ~ really flows with the knife. I also have the 3100 auto (though in plain silver) and feel slightly conflicted about it. I love the design, the uniqueness of the locking mechanism, and the way an auto can appear "unthreatening" but the open design is a bit of a gunk magnet. Smart of you to make a protective kangaroo-like pouch for it.
After about a year mine stopped working properly but that was before I learned about lubricant and torx screws. Disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated, it works fine again. As 2" knives go, one could do a lot worse.

Hey Mendoza,
I just lucked up on this one surfing the "for sale ads" a few weeks ago.
The pouch is pretty cool. Just tryin not to skin it up to bad. I really wouldn't sweat it tho if I owned the silver... believing it might not show scratches as readily as an iodized finish. I might pouch up the Blue one tho. Glad to here you figured out this thing called "lube" lol
Before I had called BENCHMADE I was looking on the "Knives of ART" website trying to talk myself in to an ostrich leather pouch for like 45 dollars.
Sure am glad I hadn't pulled the trigger on that before calling BENCHMADE. I bout totally fergot they had sheaths and didn't believe it when they had one that would fit the might MITE. The pouch is about the right size for a 960 red.
With no lanyard.

How is yours holding up. Did you mention how long you had it. How do you carry it? loose in pocket er on a key chain? just wondering...

^Had it for about 6(?) years. Just some light wear but then again I haven't used it a tremendous amount. I do have to hold and open it correctly for it to lock open 100% of the time but that probably comes with the territory. It sort of falls into the "going out with grandma" category vs. an EDC category. My father has the non-auto rainbow-handled one and that one is vulnerable to scratching as you know.

I just carry it loose in a little pocket in my pants but it could definitely do with a lanyard.
