Just received mine today, and am amazed just how good this knife is for the money.

for a Sub $100 (including $ exchange and shipping to Canada) this is on helluva knife - Light, Good steel, titanium liners, handles are great size and shape for my hands, blade profile that reminds me of the BM classics, and SHARP - I've bought many a knife that were sharp out of the box, but none compare to this (even other BM's).

One negative and one comment about it:

The negative is that it is a bit 'crunchy' to close, I suspect it is the nitrous liners rubbing on the scales and that a good couple of days breaking it in will make that go away.

The comment is that I would love to see dual studs on the blade. the single sided is a bit of a pain when opening left handed (I tend to be a bit of an ambidextrous kind of guy when it comes to opening and closing knives), and dual sided studs would be great.

Overall, really digging this knife, definately a keeper.

Thanks BM, hit the nail on the head with this one as far as I am concerned.

Oh, and what was the with the massive torque on the pivot screw out of the box? Had to loosen it off before I could even TWO hand open it...

and yeah, going to take me a while to get used to the Nitrous.

Got many different types of AO mechanisms in my collection, opens great, but that free play when closing is going to take some getting used to - already got a band-aid on my thumb. Red Face

haha

You breaking the knife in, or is it breaking you in first? Big Grin

Nice knife, first model to go Nitrous A/O, light weight, and a good blade in a slim package.

Heal up quickly please!

@ Timmy, that could be. I was thinking it was BM that did it, and for that very reason. Never thought it might have been the retailer, but that would make more sense.

@ Joe, as of last night it was the knife breaking me in, or at the very least drawing my blood. haha

But, it will heal up quick as the cut was so clean. The down side is that it was the tip of my right thumb, so has put a serious kink in my thumb stud activities... Red Face

The Nitrous system is unlike any assisted opener I have seen. Using 1 or 2 of the liners with rollers and an adjustable stop pin. You either love it or hate it. I’m a fan of the Nitrous system but have had my problems.

I use smaller thumb studs than the factory sends them out on. The HK has a few changes from the Benchmade Nitrous Stryker that I like. Single sided thumb stud works well for (righties) on this model because it won’t snag pockets. The rounded stud may help. The Nitrous Stryker 912D2 & 913D2 are very stiff out of the box and can take a long time to loosen up after adjusting the pivot and stop pin (if needed) The good part is that it loosens up and fires hard forever without ever worrying about any spring problems.

That’s my experience.

Factory fresh Lifesharp. They even replaced most of the hardware.

Nice pic of the grind Doc. I've done the same stud swap on my 907/912/913 models, easier on the pocket.

That is a nice grind, Doc. I've done a few of those myself and it's hard to sharpen the two edges without rounding the area where they meet.

Indeed, since I picked up the Blitz in question in the original post, it has smoothed out nicely. Still a bit more to go yet, but is coming along nicely.

I have since picked up a Nitrous 912D2, which needs a lot more breaking in yet.

I suspect we will be seeing the end of the Nitrous knives soon as they wouldn't work well with an Axis lock, which is very quickly replacing liner locks in the BM lines...

I hope you're wrong about that. There are plenty who want an alternative to the Axis models, and the Nitrous mechanism is a brilliant design and logical choice for that.
