Nice write-up and pictures, Jon. I kind of like the serrated blade on yours. It makes it look meaner and more suited for swash-buckling and freeing wenches. ********************** ********************** You are the Sum of Your Actions. Knife Rights Member

Glad you enjoyed gentlemen One thing I didn't get to try since I've had it was throwing a pair of gloves on, and using it with those. From a grip stanpoint, I don't think it'd be a big deal, nor working the axis lock either. But I am curious to see about accessing the hole (while there's a small cutout where the hole is, it's still tucked into the frame). So that will be interesting. -Jon Sixburgh,PA

Nice review Jon thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. The 741 is indeed a big ol folder but carries well for its size IMO.. Nows ya got an excuse to dress up as a Blackbeard this year for Halloween. _________________________ Charter Member #3 Lum Lunatics : Ship's Sniper Member of "The Society for the Preservation of The AFCK"

I'm more of a Redbeard kind of guy OK, wish I would have taken some pics, but I put a pair of work gloves on (the Mechanix type)and did some deploying (ie pulling out of my pocket, opening/closing the knife, and putting it back in my pocket). Passed with flying colors for me. With that said, I was cutting some more cheese up for my daughter, and there was something underneith the surface I was cutting (I think a pistacio shell). I felt it when I was cutting. What ended up happening was I rolled the edge in one small spot. Not a biggie, as it stropped right out, but it did confirm some suspicsion that this probably isn't the knife you want to be cutting stuff that's too hard. Whether it works in the yard trimming branches, I'm not sure. I don't think it would work for heavy duty stuff. Maybe for flower bushes and the like. Not a bad thing, mind you. It's still a great knife, it just doesn't seem to be equipped for rough tasks. -Jon Sixburgh,PA

quick comparison against my 6 yrs old's EDC: the shape of the blade is somehow similar, but the Captn'Sharky is WAY lighter, especially for its size... the 741 is sharper though... ------------------------------ Only when the last tree has been fell, the last fish caught, the last river poisoned will you know that man cannot eat money? On a more serious note: I am really enjoying the 741 so far, this thing is easily outslicing the 740 or Spyderco Millie, both top performers in my book I also like that the G10 has a little more depth to the texturing than my dejavoos, yet still avoiding the roghness usually associated with 'tacticool', this is still a great gents folder BM definitely has plenty of room for improvment on out-of-the-box sharpness, yet the bevels were evenly ground on both sides so touch up on a thin 154CM blade was a breeze This knife is massive but carries quite well, can't wait to see how she's gonna do "on stranger tides" ------------------------------ Only when the last tree has been fell, the last fish caught, the last river poisoned will you know that man cannot eat money?
