Well, this is what I found inside my 615-2
Eeker
ALOT of small pieces.
Yes the springs can be taken out...and you might as well leave the lock off of it too.
If you don't have to put the springs and lock back on you shoud not have any problem in getting it back to...gether.
I on the other hand, had to send it in BM to be reassembled.

I Believe I might just buy a regular axis and sell the 585 to someone who could enjoy the AO system.

Blueram, that one looks like a nightmare. What did Benchmade charge you to re-assemble it?

I'm glad that all it cost you Blue was $20. Again that's a LOT of parts to keep track of!

True, $20 is a net loss to put that back together. They always either brake even on service or mostly loose a few bucks.

S & W charged me $65 to reassemble the box of parts I sent them called a model 686 357 mag 7 shot revolver. The triger mechanism is a lot more dificult then expected. I was happy with tht plus shipping.

All I can say is that Benchmade's Customer Service is fantastic.
Over the last few weeks I have spoken to a handful of Customer Service Reps... Friendly, upbeat, and PATIENT... are only a few adjetives that spring to mind, to describe them.
Being that I am in sales, I have .... not intentionaly ... big expectations about the service a company should provide the customer. They exceed them every time.
Thank you
Noal, Cheryl, Whitney and otheres.. on customer service desk.
Dianna.. in parts an repair
And the two young ladies in reception whom I can't remember their names at the moment...
For all your help with my requests and inquiries.

It's not just a knife you buy, it's a company full of caring, kind, thoughtful people. That will be there when you need them to help you, with whatever your knife woes may be.

So far my 580 and 585 are doing just fine, nothing doing with the springs, they fire very well.

Since I have the 580 Proto and have something to compare the production model with, I notice there's a little vertical flex on both, and only guess that's normal since both are the same.

...and the G-10 on the Proto is so good we deserve optional replacement scales for the others, don't we?

This is my first post on the forum but I found this place because this summer I bought a new 580 and love it. So I also ordered myself a 585 as well.

I have had my 580 for about 3 months now and carry it everyday. It opens faster than some of my benchmade autos and locks like a bank vault too. I used mine and open it way too much just for entertainment and it has not had any of the problems mentioned here. I hope my 585 is just as good too.
