I was just wanting to send the knife in and get another model or something, but I was totally surprised that they would send me another 130 dollar knife, totally unnecessary but really doing customer service right!

I tried to fix my wiggle problem and now I have a dangerous slip-joint that still wiggles when open...

I have no idea what to do with it now. I wouldn't even want a new 585, this is the first Benchmade I regret buying. Frowner

Anybody know how much it'll cost to fix? It might be worth it because there is no way I would sell it in it's current condition.

Call Benchmade (phone is much better than email).

It'll probably cost you $5 + shipping. If it's a warranty type issue you shouldn't have to pay the $5. If you really screwed something up it might cost slightly more.

Just got a 585 about a week ago. I like it a lot. It will be my new edc. If I could make one change to it I would put some G-10 grips on it. I don't care for the feel of the current grips. They're to smooth and they make the knife feel cheap.

Welcome DapperDan,

Yeah, I agree the 585 is a great knife, and even with the Valox scales is a good buy. Yes, the G-10 scales make a big difference in the look, feel, and handling of it.

There was a LE run of 250 done in G-10 and they will show up from time to time I'll bet, AND I hope Benchmade will come up with separate G-10 upgrade slabs in the future. These knives deserve that extra touch.

And welcome to the Forum!
