To be honest I've never understood why the 805 was discontinued...

Hey,

great knife, great review, great photos Cool

You (& the others here) are 100% right - it's a shame that they discontinued the standard 805s... ! It makes me sad that I came upon the Benchmade label so late on... Frowner

Enjoy it, I certainly am enjoying my 551-101 Big Grin

PS I was supposed to get two of them, but then found out that it's against Russian laws to export any kind of knives out of the country by regular mail, without special permit. The only way for me to get them would have been for somebody who is visiting the country to pick them up over there and put it in their luggage on the way back. Frowner

Pardon my ignorance on this, but - Could they not send them by UPS or another international carrier besides the Russian mail system?

By law export of knives is illegal. I'm not certain of all the details, but AFAIK unless you're a manifacturer with proper licenses you can not send a knife out of the country. You can receive knives, that's not a problem, but not other way around.

Every 2 or 3 days I have to look at the pictures of this knife again. Such great smooth lines.

It's a shame we can't get one. Frowner

I wouldn't change one thing about it.

It is a nice looking knife. The 805 is a cool knife.

Maybe someone should start a thread asking for an S90V version of the knife...

Nah, that would NEVER work. Wink

Go to "Knives and Rescue Tools" and look at the 813S Mini-TSEK I picked up today.
