Most tinkerers seem to prefer the Bone/520 hybrid these days, but I love both the slimness and lightness of my 522/520. And it grips great, w/ or w/o leather gloves. Blade spine reduced a bit on top, just cuz I like messing w/ everything:

Good review minkeyman.

I’m a big fan of the 522. I use Gorilla tape between the scales and clip to give it a velvety smooth pocket carry. I also replace the thumb studs with the tall (throw studs) of the 950 Rift & Nitrous Strykers. They fit flush with the scales and really give the blade a kick.

Nice guys! I like it! I checked out the Bones at BLADE and really liked the looks of them, but ended up buying a 515 Rant instead. I didn't realize it was that easy to swap parts on these knives. That's a really good thing that Benchmade has going. Can you order specific parts or do you have to buy the knives that have parts you want and mix and match?

BM doesn't sell parts-- you need to buy the knives--

Ok cool. I probably won't have money for one for a while so I'll stick to using the Ultra the way it is for now.

You won't have a complaint with the 440C. I've used several knives with 440C over the years and found it to be a great steel.

Yeah I just sharpened it yesterday and it wasn't too bad. It wasn't the easiest but some ceramic got it back to its original scariness. Still getting used to a hollow ground blade...it's interesting. I do like the fine edge bevel on Benchmades, even though it makes it slightly harder to sharpen.

Welcome to the forums minkeyman. Thanks for the review.

I too am a big fan of the 522 handle. Here's yet another option, a 522 handle with a Bone Collector blade. The shape of the Bone Collector blade was modified by ryxlyx.

My approach to getting a smooth draw of the knife was to remove the diamonds on the scale where the pocket clip contacts the scale. With the pocket clip installed the modification is barely noticeable.

That's a nice combo Miller. Thanks holo. I like the Bone Collector knives a lot. May try one sometime soon if I can. I had thought about sanding off the scales under the clip. I'm sure it works well so I may do that soon.
