IIRC they usually use parkerized split-arrow clips or parkerized standard clips. Some models get polished split arrow clips - but these are usually LEs and a few regular models (e.g. 930, 960 (?), bradley alias I dont recall an uncoated clip for the 710 - but i've taken off the paint of one of my 710 clips. That wasn't that hard (some sandpaper) - i couldn't get the paint out of the "Benchmade" writing but i kinda liked the black writing on the shining surface. s_f

they still have parkarized clips available with the benchmade USA on them if thats what your talking about. I Ordered a few a while back.. They wear much better than the black coated clips IMO.. _________________________ Charter Member #3 Lum Lunatics : Ship's Sniper Member of "The Society for the Preservation of The AFCK"

I don't recall BM making an uncoated clip but what I have done with a painted clip is: 1. place the painted clip in boiling water. 2. remove from water then place it in a small plastic container of paint remover. 3. with rubber gloves on, remove the clip from container after time indicated on instructions. This leaves a nice satin look. The other option is to use a 100 grit sand paper and sand the paint off but it will have a polished look. __________________________ * Allen Elishewitz Preservation Society Founding Member #3 * Brotherhood of the 420 & Viceroy of the Knights of the Gravitator Member * Lum Lunatics Charter Member #15 * President of the Gentleman Society for the Preservation of the 960 Innova * Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance Member #2 * Blackwood Society member #610 Red, Blue and Black Class, Pre-Productions, Limited Editions

Thanks for sharing this. I am going to try this with one of my very worn painted clips. BTW how long did you leave it in the boiling water and then the dunking process with the paint remover? _________________________ Charter Member #3 Lum Lunatics : Ship's Sniper Member of "The Society for the Preservation of The AFCK"

Hey Shadow 864, where did you order more Bennchmade clips? I have some worn out ones that I would like to replace. And I too would like to know the times for boiling water and paint remover dunking...

I only leave it boiling water for about 30 seconds.
