If it had been drilled for left-right carry with the clip, and been an Axis lock instead of a righty liner lock, it would be my new EDC right now. I'm so left-handed that it didn't work for me (heck, I'd have given it a go even with the liner lock if it had a left-handed clip option)

Here's a review I did of it and the 585.

The 890's a nice knife, not a lot of fanfare, it's refreshing because it's simple. The second gen Nitrous mechanics are among the smoothest in the lineup. Just a small push and the blade opens with ease. I like the G-10 scales, the blade, and the overall feel. My only negative comment is the use of the pointy stud carried over from the 670 Apparition models, which is a little uncomfortable in use when pushing the blade off, and the fact that the knife is not very useful for our lefty friends.

As a note, I've noticed in the '10 catalog the studs on the 890 have been changed to the more common ones used on the 710 and others.

Anyone have one of these that can confirm that?

Also on the knife it's got an adjustable hex stop pin to compensate for wear as the knife gets used. That's a nice touch.

I decided to try the 890 because of the assist, and the blade steel. I've been carrying a 740 for the past couple of months and am having a little trouble putting a quick edge on it out in the field. I'm hoping the 154CM will be a little easier. I really wanted a nitrous stryker, but I think D2 would be a step backwards for my needs.
Anyway, thanks for the info.

I have a first pro 890 and it's a pretty nice EDC. The only thing I dont like about it is the pocket clip. I'm a fan of the arrow clip and dont care for the one on the 890. It sticks out too far and has a tendency to snag on stuff as I walk past.

I had one and liked it. Sold it due to the drive to pick up more AFCK's, but I really like the nitrous assist.
