I just bought one for myself for Christmas...I love everything about the knife except the lock seems to stick when I flick it open and sometimes when I just open it...Is there a fix for that or will it just work it's way smooth?...thanks

Whenever I've had a sticky lock it's because of two reasons. One, it's a new knife and it just hasn't gotten broke in yet. Or two, if that area where the AXIS bar locks on the blade gets dirty (with either junk or oil) the lock starts to stick. If it is dirty just clean that area off with a tissue and the stickiness goes away. A pencil usually works to help get the tissue down in there.

The Griptilian that I've had for a year still sticks like that. I think my axis lock is out of tolerance, though. It seems that the axis bar on my knife is two wide; if I put one finger on each side of the bar I can wiggle it back and forth several millimeters. For this reason, it is difficult to use the lock with just one finger. The other half a dozen Axis locks I've played with have not had this problem.

That said, please don't interpret this as a rant. My Grip works fine otherwise, so I haven't bothered to send it back to BM to have the problem fixed.

ETA: My problem is not gunk in the mechanism; I keep my knife very clean. Oil also did not fix the problem.

If it bothers you alot .....send them in or .....Take the blade out and sand the part of the tang that the axis bar sits on the blade.......use polishing cloth or very fine sand paper ..... it probably has a very fine burr on it some place. This is just a maybe.

If you use too course of paper ...... your making more of a rough edge.
Polishing cloth is better .......
Feel it and see if it has a burr or sharp edge somewhere.

Upon further lookin at mine .......it could be a burr in the liner itself. where the axis slides through the liner.

As a follow up to my original post, I did send my Mini Ritter back to BM as I noticed the blade was also way off center...BM replaced the blade and put a new Axis lock mechanism in and no more sticking lock...The process was pretty quick, took about a week or so both ways...

I like the knife so much that I bought a Ritter full size Grip and damned if the lock was making a pinging sound when I engaged it so off it went...I am snakebit but BM is making it all good and I love the knives...
