It looks like there is a run of fake 5000's overseas.....?

Never saw one there,I suppose they work hard to make a perfect fake.

If it is fake it is a bloody good one. And those fakes will be coming your way, so stay alerted.
KSK, did you buy your 5000SBK in a PX or in an afghan shop? I bought mine in a local shop in Kabul for $20. I was surprised to see that super small laser NSN sign on the blade and could not resist of buying it. Ok, I am not proud of it.
And - I am not trying to get company secrets to manufacture fake BM knives. I am just a tv news cameraman, you can see this on the Picasa site where I put pictures of the knive.
Cheers!

To Laser and Jfscmedic:
Guys, sorry but I did not want to mention the price because it would affect your judgement.
$20 price tag definitely points in the fake direction if you are in a normal part of the world.
This knife can be fake or still can be real. Among the fake junk these shops do sell real things. Our security guys bought new Garmin GPS units there for one third of the US price. With good maps of Afghanistan. Looks like another box fell of the back of the track.
I had no idea that this knife supposed to be $200. It looked to me like something real and I bought it for a friend of mine back home, who collects knives.

That's true..Real or Fake it has an unusual story behind it. Best bet would have BM give it a look as to telling you for sure if it's the real deal. Big Grin
