This sounds fishy to me but at a local pawn shop there is a Presidio for $40.
The blade says 440c steel.
Plus the scales look all wrong so I thought I'd ask ya'll.
I know you'll clear up the doubt real quick. Sound like a fake?

They make the Presidio with aluminum scales with 154CM steel.. but they make the Presidio Ultra with plastic scales and 440C steel. I think the Ultra stands for Ultra(light)... it's a budget knife and is most likely legit. The product sheet doesn't say exactly what the handle material is; only "molded textured handles".

Look up model 522/527 on Benchmade's site and see if that's what the shop has. Retail on the full size is $105, so figure new at $70-ish? Perhaps a little less if you shop around.

It looked like an Axis lock but I can't tell the legit form the fake yet. I saw the omega spring (that's what they are called, correct?)right away though and that was what gave me pause.
I didn't know about the steel options however. I wonder if they would let me grab a picture? It's a pawn shop so they might be wary.

This 'Ganzo' is a look-alike from China. I had the opportunity to play with one for awhile and have pics of it and the real 14205:

Look carefully...they are similar but the quality is not there in the 'Ganzo', BUT it's the first Axis copy I've come across. AND I'll bet it won't be the last.

The $40 Presidio sounds too good to be true, a pic or two would really help.

Just confirming that the pictured knife with "Ganzo" on the blade is a counterfeit copy.

This same problem exists with high quality watches.

Is this "branded" Timex-Rolex a homage,a replica, a counterfeit, or a fake?

You have a good point, so I'll extend on my comment.

The AXIS locking mechanism is a patent of Benchmade, so that causes the knife to be a counterfeit and unauthorized copy. If the knife was using a different mechanism, then it could be considered a simple copy of the design, as I can't remember off the top of my head if this particular H&K design was trademarked.

Thanks.
