Thanks for all the help guys. I sharpened my 525 last night. This is the sharpest I have ever gotten a knife.

Anyone take a folder down to the black mark?

We need a 615 LE with carbon fiber scales.
Could we also get a 630 with an axis lock?

I used mine on my 960 today for the first time. I did two practice knives prior to the 960. It went pretty well...a few blade scratchs but other than that I got a pretty decent edge for me. I only have the 220 and 320 grit stone...I just ordered the 600. So with that stone and a bit more practice I should be sittin' pretty.

Thanks to all who posted thoughts not only in this thread but many other aswell. It was a great learning tool for me as I was gearing up for and using the edge pro.

Canadianknifenut, when you're about to sharpen a nice knife...especially one with coating on the blade, take the extra minute to cover the blade with the blue masking tape. All but the 1/4" near the edge. It pays off in preventing those ugly scratches you get from all the sand and metal filings produced by sharpening.

Sometimes I try to just keep the deck really clean and I get fooled every time.

Yeah I did tape thing, the blade the scatching mostly occured in that "1/4 inch" zone you talked about. Its my edc though so its not a big deal its pretty minor.

Thanks again for all the advice.

congrats on the Edge Pro Big Grin

I suddenly started liking traditional knives a great deal more than tanto and recurved blades.

Took my Vex down to the black (10º). This thing is sharp! It filets finger prints! Working that slight recurve and the tip was a pain in the a$$ though.

Congrats on the Edge pro!
It is a great system.
Taxesblow has it spot on, on how to use the system.
I recently bought one my self.
As a toolmaker I always did free hand sharpen my knives with good results.
Now with the edge pro it is even easier with a much better tightly edge.
First stone is the most important (as with all polishing) after that I will go through the whole spectrum of stones and tapes to a mirror edge, hairpopping ........ sharp Cool

With the edge pro you can buy aluminum blancks.
On these I glue wet stones of the US brand "Gesswein" (industrial wet stones).
These are much more narrow and fit the recurve well.
