Every since I got into Benchmades I've seen on several occasions a Knife of the Month knife. Can anybody shed some light on what exactly these were?

It doesn't look like BM has released anything like that in a long time so it must go back to the early 2000s and only lasted a year or two? The ones I have seen didn't look numbered but they did have a month and year stamped on them. Was that normal just for KOTM knives or did BM do this for all their knives in the early days?

Also were these always some sort of limited version of an existing knife? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out what these knives were.

In the year 2000 (I think the year 2000??) I believe they did a special run of an existing knife every month. So for instance in October they did a blue 940 and they did a different knife every month for the entire year. Someone with more knowledge can probably tell you specifically which model was with which month. As far as I know it was only done that one year. I am not sure how many were made/month.

The green/black "Splash" AFCK is one knife I must get someday. Everytime I go for one I get outbid...

Just some trivia...

The green/black and the all black Ares (at that point they were just LE 730's) both made it into regular production as the 735 (Green/Black) and 732 (Black).

The KOTM run was only done in 2000, and it was done pretty much to celebrate the 2000's.

I can't imagine that there was a time that you could just order or pick up at the local shop the Ares 735 (Green/Black) and 732 (Black).

I think the KOTM were special runs as noted during the Y2K.

Kenmade, This is what I’m referring to.

BTW: Mark said he was the only member of
Knights of the Gravitator.

What up with that? Big Grin
