I just got my monochrome and I thought i should try my hand at writing a review, so here we go.
Handleing the knife at first impression I must say I am impressed with the quality and workmanship and the tight tolerances. Let's remember that this is a 30$ knife, yes, made in Taiwan, so what? we're all helping the global economy, equal opeturnity and good will to all mankind and all that stuff.
The blade is a three inch +- falt ground drop point with a thick spine, looks thick anyway, which makes it an excellent for all around utility cutting tasks. The blade is an n690 steel which i don't have a clue what that is but I suspect
some kind of X-file, extraterestrial supersteel.
I have heard rumors of some extract of delepted uranium, but i really can't say, maybe somebody else has a clue, feedback would be appreciated.
I have seen some torture test on this knife on Youtube and i must say I was impressed, i would'nt shell out 30$ to ruin a knife like that, heck I would'nt shell 3$ for a knife to
just ruin it, thank god there is Youtube and some very unstable people.
Let's continue, it is a frame lock, with the liners/frame bieng fairly thick so lockup is tight
as you would expect from a BM and disengageing requires a little more preasure than my stryker.
Liners/frame are also made of SS, I am not sure of what quality but I don't cut with the liners so
it's a non issue. There is a backspacers made of the same SS with jimping on it and it does
improve the grip on the knife, there is also jimping on top where the thumb rests and on the bottom where the forefinger wraps. The jimping is not a sharp cut but rather rounded more like the vex which makes it easy on the hands with a tight grip. The knife is very flat and sits nice in the pocket but a little on the heavy side for a knife of that size, but nothing that would throw your back out with extensive carry.
The pocket clip is the same finish as the rest of the knife, a gray satin finish wich gives it a 100$+ look. The clip is solid, unlike the clip on Rukus, and the blade shape itself looks very much like the mini Rukus, only thinner ground. I have'nt put through any work tasks, but most of BM's (12 now) are more for fondeling
rather than working except for the stryker and rukus
which have seen some real work load and have
handled it with honor. I will update this review
as I put my monochrome through the grinder and see
how it holds up with some real heavy fondeling. Did I mention it came light saber sharp?
I think I placed this post in the wrong place,
but I had good intentions in mind.
